1966: Company founded in Vienna as a sales office of the Mars Group.

1973: Mars acquires the Rondo-Neisse confectionery factory in Breitenbrunn (province of Burgenland), refurbishes and extends the facilities and moves the company headquarters there.

1985: Launch of SHEBA® alu trays in Austria - a new category on the catfood market.

1985: The newly-built petfood factory in Bruck/Leitha (province of Lower Austria) takes up operations, initially as a separate company under the name of Effem Austria; in subsequent years the capacity is expanded more than fivefold.

1988: Production of diet petfood for sale by sister companies worldwide starts in Bruck.

1991: Development of CEE markets (later also of markets in the eastern Mediterranean and in Africa) out of Bruck begins.

1999: Launch of WHISKAS® Pouch in Austria.

2001: Launch of UNCLE BEN'S® Express Rice in Austria.

2001: Production of petfood in pouches starts in Bruck.

2002: The Bruck factory takes up production of organic petfood under the name of WHISKAS® BIO.

2003: Development and production of the confectionery product DELIGHT BY MARS®.

2007: Change of the company name to Mars Austria OG (as part of a global harmonisation project).

2008: Introduction of comprehensive nutrition value declaration (GDAs) on confectionery packages.

2010: Considerable reduction of unsaturated fatty acids in MARS®, SNICKERS® and MILKY WAY® (as the first manufacturer).
