1911: Frank C. Mars begins producing candy in his kitchen in Tacoma, Washington.

1923: Frank C. and Forrest E. Mars create the MILKY WAY® bar.

1932: Forrest E. Mars starts chocolate confectionery activity in Slough, England.

1935: Acquisition of Chappel Brothers Ltd., English pet food manufacturer.

1940: Forrest E. Mars returns to the United States. Creation of M&M‘S® chocolate candies.

1946: Creation of UNCLE BEN‘S® brand, the first commercial parboiled rice.

1955: Four Square established in Slough, England, to extend confectionery vending opportunities.

1965: Opening of Waltham Centre for Pet Nutrition, Waltham, England.

1973: Four Square introduces the KLIX® Cassette System, a breakthrough in drinks vending.

1982: M&M‘S® chosen by the first space shuttle astronauts to be included in their food supply.

1986: Launch of DOLMIO® pasta sauces in Europe.

1989: Doveurope opened in Strasbourg, France, producing ice cream versions of MARS® favourite chocolate brands.

1989: Organic brand SEEDS OF CHANGE® established.

1990: MARS® Bar and M&M‘S® chocolate candies official sponsors of Football World Cup, Italy.

1991: First sales of snackfood in Russia (CIS).

1995: Lights on the Empire State Building, New York City, USA, coloured blue to announce launch of blue M&M‘S® chocolate candies.

2000: Purchase of Ebly, manufacturer of wheat-based products, Chateaudun, France.

2002: Acquisition of Royal Canin.

2005: Mars Nutrition Health and Wellbeing established.

2007: Global re-branding under the name Mars.

2008: Acquistion of the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company.
