Q:  Do you send out coupons or samples?

A:  We do not have a programme where we send coupons or samples out to consumers on a regular basis as it is not feasible for us to do so.  Most of our specials can be found at various grocery stores or large department stores, and are advertised in local newspapers in different parts of the country.

Pet owners can register on our pet brand websites to be part of their respective mailing lists; you will able to take part in any mailings that take place throughout the year.

Q:  Can you provide me with a list of gluten-free/allergen-free products?

A:  At Mars Canada Inc., we’re committed to ensuring that consumers have access to the information they need to make informed decisions about our products.  Your trust in our brands is important to us.  That’s why we ensure that any top nine allergen (peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, milk, eggs, wheat, soy, sulphites, fish and shellfish) that is part of our UNCLE BEN'S® and chocolate brand recipes is clearly listed on our product labels. The list of ingredients shows what the product is made of.  We recommend that consumers with known allergies, or those responsible for their care, always read the list of ingredients prior to consuming any Mars Canada Inc. product. We do not provide lists, however, as these may become outdated.  The ingredient statement on the package provides the most accurate and up to date information about that product. If the allergen you are allergic to is present on the label, then you should not eat the product.

Q:  Do you use Fair Trade chocolate?  Do you source your cocoa from farms that employ labour?

A:  Mars Inc. is very proud to share our commitment to certifying our entire cocoa supply Rainforest Alliance Certified Chocolate globally by 2020.

The Rainforest Alliance works with cocoa farms of all sizes, and certification ensures that ecosystems and the rights and benefits of workers are protected.  Rainforest Alliance Certified farms have met the environmental, social and economic standards of the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN), a coalition of local conservation organizations that first set the standard for sustainable farming in rainforest areas in the early 1990s.   The SAN standards cover ecosystem conservation, worker rights and safety, wildlife protection, water and soil conservation, agrochemical reduction, decent housing, and legal wages and contracts for workers.

Rainforest Alliance certification is the latest milestone in the long standing cocoa sustainability efforts of Mars. For 30 years, Mars has led the chocolate industry in its efforts to achieve sustainable cocoa production, investing well over $10 million in each of the past several years in a wide range of initiatives.

Farmed on over 18 million acres of tropical land, cocoa provides a means of livelihood to an estimated 40 million people, including more than 2.5 million farmers as well as laborers and employees in cocoa and chocolate processing factories.  Cocoa can be cultivated under the shade of native canopy trees and maintain a landscape similar to natural forest. Currently it is not possible to sustain good cocoa yields without support to farmers. Therefore, certifying our cocoa supply delivers measurable improvements in the quality of life for cocoa farmers, their families and communities, provides a stable, high-quality cocoa supply, as well as a cleaner, greener environment for all of us.  Mars is proud to be the first global chocolate company to commit to such a comprehensive certification.
