As a producer of pet foods since 1935, Mars Petcare is the world’s first professional pet food manufacturer and the first global pet care provider to enter China. In 1995, Mars Petcare established China’s first pet food factory in Huairou to produce PEDIGREE^® and WHISKAS^®.

In 2016, Mars were awarded the title of "Advanced Collective" by the Feed Industry Association of the Ministry of Agriculture in China, and the only pet food enterprise to have received the commendation. In the same year, Mars were recognized as "the Most Influential Company" by Goumin.com, China's largest vertical site on pets, reaffirming its leading position in the petcare industry of China. In order to help pet owners in China receive scientific and correct knowledge about petcare and nutrition, Mars founded the website, Mars Petcare Academy (MPA), in 2012, followed by MPA Weibo and MPA WeChat. These platforms promote the idea of balanced diet and proper care, working to educate pet owners and realizing the company's vision of building "A Better World for Pets^®."
