The EPODE European Network (EEN) is a EU program of local actions to prevent obesity, supported by the European Commission’s consumer health division and four private partners, launched in 2007.
It aims to extend the Epode approach, which is already extensively used in France, to other EU countries. The approach involves all stakeholders in a given community : local politicians, teachers, healthcare professionals, sports instructors, canteens, restaurants, etc. to encourage families to adopt healthy lifestyles (balanced diets and exercise).
As a food producer, Mars, Incorporated has always wanted to contribute to solving the issue of obesity, particularly among children.
Being an official partner of the EEN gives Mars, Incorporated the opportunity to demonstrate its active commitment. We support the extension of good prevention practices and their evaluation. This ethical and transparent public/private partnership is in line with our Principle of Mutuality, since all players work together towards the best possible result.
