By signing this Charter, Uncle Ben's® is committed with the French Health Ministry to reducing the sodium content of 100% of the Uncle Ben's® Express (RTH) and Uncle Ben's® Sauces ranges by the end of 2011.
- Average reduction of 24% of the SALT content of the Uncle Ben's® Express range
- Average reduction of 18% of the SALT content of the Uncle Ben's® Sauces range
Uncle Ben's® Express (RTH) new recipe will contain less than 2 grams of salt per pouch, that is less than 1/3 of the Guideline Daily Amounts (GDA's)!
Reduction in salt, but not reduction in taste:

Reducing the sodium content will not affect the taste of products. For several years, our R&D department has been testing, innovating, proposing new solutions such as the use of spices, the increase in the size of “chunks” of raw materials such as tomatoes and mushrooms in order to improve the nutritional profile of the preparations, without altering the taste.

Did you know?
On average, the French currently eat 8-9 g of salt a day.
We should not consume more than 6 g a day.
Health risks: an excessive consumption of salt can increase blood pressure and risk of cardiovascular disease.
75 % of the salt we consume is already in the food we buy.
The so-called "hidden" salt (naturally present in the products or added when manufactured) is the main source of salt in our food.
So remember to taste your dishes before adding salt!

The signing of the PNNS Charter is completely aligned with our Food Purpose and confirms our engagement to unleash the full potential of our global food community to create a model sustainability, health & nutrition food business.
"Health & Nutrition" trainings will be available for the Sales Force next September. Moreover, a "Nutrition Day" will be organized soon and the associates' children will be invited.
