When Gilles Barathier, a maintenance technician at Saint-Denis-de-l’Hôtel in France, noticed a manufacturing weakness that caused petfood to be unevenly packed, he did not shy away from suggesting a change to the filling system.
Using his experience as a helicopter mechanic, Gilles devised a vortex-type filling system that eliminated the jamming problem that regularly shut down the production line. It is now used in Mars plants around the world.
