Finance

It’s finance, but with major differences
For most companies, Finance is a team of number crunchers poring over spreadsheets and juggling budgets. At Mars, Incorporated we take a different view of things. We don’t think of Finance as a separate department hidden away in a room crammed with calculators. In fact, our Finance people work so closely with different functions across the business – everyone from Sales and Marketing, to Manufacturing and Research and Development – that you could almost say they were members of those teams.

Prepare for more involvement
Such freedom and interaction means we can offer our Associates in Finance a real breadth and depth of experience. At the same time, we’re enabling them to do what they do best – use their expertise to successfully manage the massive financial responsibilities that come with a business of our size and scope. Finance plays such a proactive role in helping to guide strategic development, there’s always plenty of opportunity to influence our tactics, direction and future profitability.

Balancing the books won’t be enough
Accordingly, we don’t simply look for those with a good head for maths. Our Finance people are just as comfortable with people as they are numbers. And to join their team, you’ll need to combine strong relationship-building skills with sound judgment, the courage to act on your beliefs and the ability to influence others and inspire them to act with you. Human resources (P& O)

Performance through people
HR at Mars, Incorporated isn’t called HR- instead, it’s known as Personnel and Organisation. Sales

Sales – doing business at the front-line
If you want to work at the cutting edge of the Mars, Incorporated business, delivering results every day through the great relationships you will build with our customers, then Sales is for you. Sales at Mars, Incorporated isn’t about cold calling or the hard sell. Our Associates in Sales focus on business development – how can we profitably and consistently grow our sales by aligning our strategies with those of our customers to bring our brands alive in store for our consumers? Doing this faster and smarter than the competition is what it takes to win.

Let your personality shine
At Mars, Incorporated the emphasis lies squarely on building strong business relationships with our customers. This means going the extra yard to ensure that our customers can maximise their sales from our brands, which in turn means we grow too. Many Sales Associates visit their customers every day, driving superior distribution, display and impact at the point of purchase. So, in addition to core selling skills, you’ll need to be great at building and maintaining strong relationships to build a career here. Production and R&D

Production
It takes a network of about 20,000 people Mars, Incorporated Associates worldwide to produce and reliably deliver the products that tick all the boxes when it comes to taste, look, nutrition, convenience and cost. With such size and scope, Manufacturing at Mars, Incorporated requires uncompromising quality standards, consummate technical skill and a real penchant for problem solving. Consequently, we make sure the people who work here are able to constantly improve processes and produce even greater results.

Research & Development (R&D)
Our R&D teams are gathered on European hubs in Germany, in the United-Kingdom and in Netherlands. They give the opportunity of developing new products, which will satisfy the consumers’ expectations.

Business Support

A business built on support
Keeping a business of our size and scope operating as efficiently as possible relies on a rare kind of teamwork. And nowhere is this more apparent than across the HR, IT and Logistics teams that make up Mars Business Support. You’d be wrong to think this part of Mars, Incorporated simply supports the wider business though – every single Associate who works here is actively involved in making Mars, Incorporated an even better place to work.

Reliably delivering
Based in an environment that is both stimulating and challenging, our Supply Chain and Logistics teams are the mechanism that enables us to bring raw materials in and get finished products out. Interacting with a complex network of logistics and suppliers, we place our trust in them to take the decisions that help us reliably deliver on our promises. It’s something that’s so important that we pay bonuses based on our success in reliably delivering, as that’s what ultimately helps us remain a trade partner of choice.
