Policies on Work & Health
Here at Mars, educating the workforce on promoting good health and creating opportunities to exercise begins with our own associates. Two major projects are underway to raise awareness and encourage associates to take responsibility for their own health: 'Demographic Change' and 'Clever Naschen'.
The 'Demographic Change' project is based on the knowledge that cross-generational collaboration is becoming ever more important in broadening our job perspectives. We all will be working longer and are responsible for keeping fit and able to work. This includes having a healthy and balanced lifestyle, no different than life-long learning. Mars is committed to creating a work environment where this remains possible.
The 'Clever Naschen' project is built on four pillars: Product development, consumer information, responsible marketing and promoting initiatives for physical activity. As a responsible, family-owned business, Mars is actively involved in health education and creating exercise opportunities. Every year many Mars associates participate in sports events and activities such as "Cycling to Work", just one of many exercise offers. At the NVV race, sponsored by Mars among others, associates keep themselves fit for the future by running or walking in various teams as part of the "Fit for 10" event.
Apart from the two projects 'Demographic Change' and 'Clever Naschen', Mars also has its own in-house Occupational Health Team, where associates can take advantage of having preventive medical check-ups. In addition, Mars is continuously making improvements on workplace design and ergonomics.
