Products from Mars made their first appearance in German shops almost 50 years ago; not their famous chocolate bars, but CHAPPI® and WHISKAS®. Demand was so high that Mars soon decided to build a production site in Germany for petfood. Their choice was Verden in Lower Saxony.

Since then, three more locations have been built for the production and sales of other Mars products: Viersen makes snackfood, Minden dry petfood and Mogendorf clay granulate for SERAMIS®, the plantcare system from Mars. Apart from Mars Petcare, the business segments of Mars Food (UNCLE BEN'S®, EBLY®) and Mars Drinks (FLAVIA®, KLIX®) are also located in Verden.

Through the joining together of Mars, Incorporated and Wrigley in October 2008, chewing gum was added as another business segment, which included an additional 400 associates. Wrigley GmbH is headquartered in Unterhaching, the second largest municipality in Munich County in Bavaria.
