Mars

Their largest petfood production plant on the European continent is located in the Lower Saxony City of Verden. About 1,000 associates from 30 countries are there to ensure 220,000 tons of petfood leave the site every year; among others, WHISKAS®, PEDIGREE®, CESAR®, SHEBA® and KITEKAT®. The Verden site is also home of the European Innovation Center stimulating and advancing innovations around the world to the entire petcare segment.

Location

The site is in a triangle formed by connecting Hannover, Hamburg and Bremen. Despite being near three large cities - Bremen is only 35 km away - Verden has its own special flair. Life in this quaint city is dominated by three things: horses, the cathedral and Mars.

Attractions

Verden is famous as a "Rider's Town", and for good reason. This is where the "Hanovarian“, a well-known horse breed, has its roots. This small city is also home to the largest auction for warm-blooded horses. Verden residents are proud of their "Dom" (cathedral), and a week-long festival every June known as Domweih. The Verden Domweih is the oldest folk festival in northern Germany and is known locally as the "5th season". Also found in the shade of the cathedral built in the Middle Ages are popular theater performances and the Verden Jazz & Blues Festival.
