Mars Learning Framework

Research shows that the best combination for learning to be most effective is in the ratio 70/20/10:

• 70% of all learning comes from doing
• 20% of learning comes from observing others
• 10% of learning comes from the formal process of being taught. Included in this are books, training courses, or lectures that you may listen to

Our global learning philosophy is based on this 70/20/10 model, and is the framework upon which your Personal Development Plan is built.

Personal Development Plan

Each year you and your manager will work together to create a Personal Development Plan to maximize your performance and growth in your current role. Your Personal Development Plan will include:

• the business goals and strategy and your unique contribution towards it
• the level of competence required in your current role (functional and behavioral)
• the skills and knowledge you need to learn to succeed in your current role

As learning is an-ongoing process, you will work with your manager through the year to ensure you develop the skills you need to perform and grow.

Mars University

Mars University is your resource to all learning and development activity across Mars. Open to all associates, the University is comprised of eight functional colleges (e.g. Sales, R&D) and two cross-functional colleges (e.g. leadership development skills). The University is accessible across the globe and provides an invaluable set of resources and learning methods in the form of training courses, e-learning modules, a library, and research center. The content is created by top Mars associates, which offers individuals the competitive advantage they need to succeed in all areas of the business.
