Our Sourcing Highlights
SUSTAINABLE & RESPONSIBLE PRACTICES
Our responsibility to the world grows with its population. As one of the world’s leading food manufacturers, Mars has a duty to help our agricultural suppliers produce more with less. If we can help our partners achieve higher yields of higher-quality crops, we can improve their lives while doing our part to create a more sustainable future.
We have committed to purchasing 100 percent of several key raw materials through independent certification programs that share these goals, such as the Rainforest Alliance, UTZ Certified, Fairtrade International and the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
We know certification is a key step to sustainability, but we believe in doing more. By pursuing exciting new research to improve farming and production methods, we can secure safe, reliable and sustainable supplies of high-quality raw materials while creating mutual benefits for our partners. Because many of our supply chains begin with small farmers in rural parts of Africa, Asia and South America, this work has the potential to make a dramatic difference in the livelihoods and wellbeing of millions of people, for generations to come.

THE SEARCH FOR SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL
We want you to know what goes into our products — that’s why we’ve been sourcing certified palm oil since 2013. More recently, we joined forces with The Forest Trust (TFT) to make sure we are responsibly sourcing all of our palm oil from local farmers. At Mars, we are committed to a fully traceable palm oil supply chain.

ENSURING THAT LOCAL FARMERS SHARE IN OUR SUCCESSES
Did you know most of the world’s farms are small-scale and family-owned? The Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that 84 percent of the world’s farms are in this category — together, they provide food for two billion people. Here at Mars, we take seriously our responsibility to help ensure these farmers and their families share in our company’s successes.
