Zagreb, March 31st 2009. – Today ended Month of healthy smile, promotional activity through which dog owners could take their dog for the free examination of teeth and oral cavity to one of 40 veterinary clinics in Croatia. Dog owners in Croatia are aware of the importance of the regular oral hygiene of their pets. This was confirmed by the fact that more than 4500 of them have used the opportunity of the free examination of dog’s teeth and oral cavity. Due to extremely high interest, Month of healthy smile, that was scheduled for February was prolonged for the entire month and has lasted from February 1st until March 31st.
Oral hygiene of dogs is equally important as humans. Problems with our pets’ teeth can occur while they are still young, right after “permanent” teeth have grown. Tatjana Juric, famous Croatian TV hostess has also recognised importance of quality and regular care of dogs’ oral cavity and has marked end of the promotion by taking her one-year old dog Jackie to the veterinarian. After the examination, Dr. Vlatka Marekovic from the veterinary clinic Dia-Vet, stated: „Young Jackie has beautiful I nourished teeth. It is obvious that Tatjana takes excellent care of her dog and pays attention to her teeth and oral cavity“.
In February and March, Pedigree® organised Month of healthy smile with the aim of increasing awareness of the importance oral hygiene. More than 4500 dog owner visited 40 veterinary clinics throughout Croatia. Highest response was in Zagreb area (>1700), followed by Osijek area (>1600), while costal parts of Croatia had response lower by half – Rijeka area (800) and Split area (500). Commenting on the promotion Dr. Marekovic stated: „I recommend all dog owners to practice regular care and cleaning of dogs’ teeth. I advise annually examination of oral cavity and in the meantime use of DentaStix-a™ so that we can always see happy and beautiful smile of our pet.”
