Key facts
- Products are clear of melamine and safe for consumption.
Beijing—In the wake of the melamine in milk crisis in China, Mars products made in China have undergone rigorous testing around the world and over the past few weeks several hundreds of test results from government labs across the Asia Pacific region including Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam as well as independent laboratories in Australia, South Africa and across Asia have confirmed that Mars chocolate products made in China, including M&M’s® and Snickers®, are clear of melamine and safe for consumption.
In addition, an independent laboratory in Germany has tested more than a hundred samples of the milk powder used in Mars chocolate products made in China and confirmed the absence of any detectable levels of melamine, in line with the results from the Chinese AQSIQ released late last month.
“The trust consumers have in our products is our most critical asset and protecting that trust is our top priority. We are gratified, but not surprised by these results. Over the years we have developed a vigorous series of strict internal processes, based on international standards which give us the confidence to say that all Mars products, including those made in China, are safe for consumption.” said Khaled Rabbani, Director of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs for Asia Pacific.
“Consumers can be assured that they can continue to enjoy the Mars products they have loved for years.”
