IBERIA MEETING BECOMES A WALK IN THE PARK

05/03/2018

ALL-ASSOCIATES DAYS CAPPED BY PARK VISIT WITH 1,600 DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN

Want to make a meeting more meaningful? Get out of the office!

Mars Iberia Associates from Mars Petcare, Mars Wrigley Confectionery, and Mars Food in 53 markets across Europe and Southern Africa certainly went beyond PowerPoints for their All Associates Day business conferences this year. As part of their meeting, they decided to host a volunteer event – and what an event it was, with Associates taking 1,600 underprivileged children between the ages of three and 17 to the Port Aventura Amusement park!

Hear about it firsthand in a blog by our Associate, Nuria Journet, who joined in the fun!

Volunteering at Mars doesn’t happen on a whim. The Mars Volunteer Program (MVP) is a global volunteer program that gives our Associates paid time off to help make a difference in the communities where we live and work. MVP harnesses the collective power of our greatest asset: our Associates!

Since 2016, Iberia Associates have been collaborating with SOS Children Villages through the Orbit Smile Back program. They’ve made financial donations to dental care, collected food, renovated facilities and offered healthy habits education to the program which supports children who are at-risk and often living with a guardian who isn’t a parent.

So when Iberia Associates decided they wanted to add a volunteer project to this year’s All-Associates Days, they immediately thought of kids in need – and how they could create the most smiles? Flash forward to February, when more than 400 Associates accompanied over 1,600 children who wouldn’t normally be able to afford a day at the amusement park.

The children first had the chance to attend workshops related to pet ownership, oral care education, health and well-being, and teamwork. Then, they had time off to enjoy the attractions with our Associates.

At the end of the day there was only one question left: who went home with bigger smiles…the kids or our Associates?!
