Mars is Among the Reputation Institute's 2018 Global RepTrak® 100 – and We’re Thrilled!

The announcement came this morning from the Reputation Institute (RI), which conducts the world’s largest corporate reputation study of its kind, the Global RepTrak 100 (RT100). Based on more than 230,000 individual ratings collected in the first quarter of 2018, the global study includes comparative rankings, demographic trends, and unique insights into the dynamics behind reputational impact. The research shows what drives trust and identifies supportive behaviors, like intent to purchase a company’s products, willingness to invest in, or even work for, the company.

We’re new to the Global RepTrak study this year, landing at the 84th spot on the list.

“Reputation is critical to every aspect of our business,” said Andy Pharoah, VP Corporate Affairs and Strategic Initiatives of Mars. “It’s incredibly powerful for us to get recognition and to globally be part of the RT100.”

Key drivers of reputation this year are ethics, fairness and social influence. “Purpose-driven companies with enhanced brand strength have a higher reputation, as evidenced by the Global RepTrak® results,” says Stephen Hahn-Griffiths, RI executive partner and chief research officer. “Being purposeful is more important than ever.”

And being purposeful is at the heart of everything we do – from promoting a healthy planet to supporting thriving people to nourishing global wellbeing – as mapped out in our billion dollar Sustainable in a Generation Plan.

Of course, it truly takes a global village to tackle the grand challenges we seek to address, and our Associates have a grand passion for doing just that. For example, our many STEM Associates are committed to conducting scientific research that helps us create new projects and services that pets and people can enjoy every day. Meanwhile, our Mars Ambassador Program (MAP) has drawn on the talents of more than 600 Associates who’ve travelled to 32 countries during the past decade, volunteering some 36,500 hours to benefit local non-profit partners and communities. Our Mars Volunteer Program (MVP) is another powerful example of how we – as a company and as individuals – put our Principles into Action in communities at the heart of our business.

What else shapes our reputation?  Our dedication to advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace, earning a 90 percent score in the 2018 Corporate Equality Index. And we’re tremendously proud to be known as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies, an honor we can only achieve through the dedication of everyone at Mars.

Congratulations to everyone at Mars for creating, supporting and continuously enhancing a reputation that makes us all proud.  #RepTrak100 #ProudlyMars
