200.000 bowls of dry food given to dogs and cats living in shelters

Pedigree® and Whiskas® are taking care of 500 unclaimed animals for a year

Three Hungarian animal shelters receive 200.000 portions of dry food altogether from Mars Hungary, the local distributor of Pedigree® and Whiskas®. The first delivery of the donation, sufficient to feed five hundred pets for one year, was handed over by representatives of MARS in the middle of November in Esztergom, Siófok and Vác. The two brands offered to give one portion of pet food to Hungarian animal shelters upon each dry food sale made during the month of October.

Mars has been recognized as one of the world’s best workplaces again by Great Place to Work®. The international company group’s position on the list rose by three places since last year. Besides celebrating this great achievement, Hungarian MARS units are also looking forward to learn the results of HEWITT’s Best Employer survey conducted among Hungarian companies.

MARS volunteers in Bokros work on renovation 

A team of volunteers at the MARS Hungary plant in Csongrád-Bokros renewed the dance club of Alföld Folk Dance Group on Saturday. The company’s green team painted walls, fixed iron structures, placed concrete and did landscaping to create a more comfortable environment for the award-winning dancers to rehearse and perform.

Hungarian Mars associate participates in global volunteer programme – Tangible CSR: Mars publishes annual report 

All Mars manufacturing units worldwide including the plant in Csongrád-Bokros will exclusively use renewable energy from 2040 the latest. The company demonstrating a high level of responsibility for local communities wants associates and suppliers living far from one other to develop a better understanding of each other’s work. Under this initiative, a Hungarian Mars associate will travel to India in autumn 2013 to join a global programme launched to facilitate the social inclusion of underprivileged women in India. Mars has several programmes underway to promote environmental protection and improve the working conditions of associates and suppliers which are highly appreciated not only by direct beneficiaries but also by customers. This is confirmed by a recent report published in Hungary by Nielsen showing that Hungarian consumers are appreciative of corporate social responsibility measures
Csongrád-Bokros makes best green progress

Pet food plant of Mars Hungary wins KÖVET award

The Mars Hungary petfood production plant, based in Csongrád-Bokros has won the Best Green Progress 2013 award of KÖVET Association. As a result of efforts by the Green Office Team of the factory, disposable plastic and paper cups were replaced with glasses, paper and toner consumption was cut through streamlining the printer fleet and visual communication signs were installed to reduce power consumption. Mars expects the measures to reduce paper and water consumption by 30% and 10%, respectively. Now the Csongrád-Borkos plant also operates along the same recognized environmentally conscious standards as the company’s head office in Budapest.
