At this year‘s Responsible Business Awards Mars Lietuva was awarded the main prize of Socially Responsible Enterprise in the category of foreign companies for its mature and innovative social and environmental performance. The company has won Partner of the Year nomination in 2009.

Lietuvos Energija presented a new trademark Lithuanian Green Energy which will be used to identify electrical energy generated from renewable sources. Gargždai based petfood manufacturer Mars Lietuva and natural mineral water producer Druskininkų Rasa have become the first users of it.

Over the past months, Mars Lietuva associates together with colleagues from Wrigley took part in supporting DiaBites and Greenfone initiative by collecting unused cell phones. The money received was donated to buy insulin pumps. Mars Lietuva efforts totalled in 646 mobile phones collected which have been valued almost 2,400 litas.

On 4 October, the world will celebrate the World Animal Day for the 80th time. The town of Gargždai decided to commemorate it beforehand – on the last Sunday of September. More than 1,500 people came with about 250 pets, and 16 pets from the pet care centre “5 Pėdutės” found new homes.
