A recently published study confirms: cats will consistently go for food whose nutrient composition is as close as possible to their natural prey. Today, experts, scientists and TV moderator Cécile Bähler discuss this and other findings arising from research into the habits of cats and dogs. The panel discussion was organised by Mars, an international consumer goods company.

Mars Petcare launches pet food with certified fish

In spring of last year, Mars Petcare made a commitment to use only fish from sustainable sources by 2020. Now the company has reached an important milestone in delivering this ambitious target: The first products with fish from MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certified fisheries are being launched in the Whiskas and Sheba brands.

The world moves on, and the social environment of modern man undergoes continuous flux. Sedentary occupations, lack of physical activity and unbalanced diets are now typical of our way of life. Public health authorities are increasingly having to cope with the challenge of what have come to be called "lifestyle diseases", such as cardiovascular disorders and diabetes. The situation calls for the development of new measures in the realm of health promotion and prevention. As part of its National Programme on Diet and Physical Activity, Switzerland's Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) is adopting an innovative approach to various areas of public health. Its efforts have resulted in the emergence of actionsanté – "eat better, exercise more". Mars welcomes the actionsanté initiative, which brings together the main actors and is thus able to make useful contributions to the development of integrated solutions. Our first 'promise of action' focuses on the 'food composition' action area.
