Our Application Process Explained

So you’re interested in applying for our Mars Graduate Scheme? You’ve come to the best place. Our application process is smooth and straightforward, but you need to see it to believe it, right?

Don’t worry, we’ve outlined everything you need to know below about how the application process works, what exactly is involved and the time frames you need to get stuff done by.

Did you know we offer reasonable expenses for stage 3 and 4 of our assessments? We also perform psychometric tests, but there’s no reason to get all freaked out - we want you to succeed after all (especially if you’re super driven and ambitious).

Oh and did we mention grad scheme salaries start at £30,000 and £32,000 - plus a £2000 joining fee? Yeah, that’s a generous starting salary. So, without further ado, let’s get into the nitty gritty shall we? Here’s an insight into the Mars Graduate Scheme application process.

A few bits you need to know before applying

You might have ambitions to get into marketing and engineering (and that’s fab), but you’re gonna have to pick one for now. Because you can only apply for one of our programmes.

So it’s worth having a good old think about which one is the most suited to you, and which programme you will enjoy the most (obviously).

Once you completed the programme, the world’s your oyster, but until then, you have to narrow things down. You can still choose between taking a specialist path and a more general one depending on which programme you pick.

Please note - you’ll need to bring your passport and proof you are on track to attain or have attained a 2:1 at University to stages three and four (see below).

And one other thing. It’s first come first served. So don’t wait for the deadline, because if we find the right people sooner, we’ll close the programme. We’d definitely recommend an early application - the sooner the better.

1. Select programme

Pick the Graduate programme you are most interested in/well suited to.

2. Location, location, location

Some of our programmes a multiple location choices, so do refer to the FAQ’s page which explains more about each location and its specific benefits.

3. Register

Before you can make an application you must register your details and create a profile online.

4. Begin application

Now it’s time to show us what you’ve got and begin your Mars journey.

5. Start with stage 1

Stage one of our application process involves three competency based questions which gives you a chance to show us you’ve got the core skills we’re after. Make sure you share why you want to work for Mars and all the awesome activities you do outside of your degree.

Top tip - you will need your CV and any supporting info on hand.

6. Time for stage 2

You’ve completed stage 1, well done. Now it’s time to delve a little deeper and assess your numerical or logical reasoning skills via a psychometric test. Your results will be compared against other Graduates.

Top tip - we recommend doing some of the practice tests first.

7. Stage 3 commences

Nice one, you stand out from the crowd and you’ve got our attention. Which means we want to speak with you and give you an insight into the Mars world. You’ll be invited for the first round assessment which involved a face to face interview and technical exercise (if you’ve applied for our Engineering and R&D schemes). Grads applying for other schemes may have a phone or Skype interview.

Top tip - Our best tip for interviews is to be yourself. Be honest, genuine and enthusiastic about the programme you’re applying for.

8. And finally, stage 4

Yep, you’ve made it this far, you deserve a well earned pat on the back. We’d love you to attend our final round assessment day. This day involves a case study, a group exercise and an interview with senior Mars associates (don’t worry, we won’t bite).

Timescales

We don’t make you wait months before hearing anything. For example if you get through the first round (hooray!) you will most likely be invited to the assessment centre the following week. Plus, all decisions are made within two working days. We like to move fast.

And it’s as easy as that. Hopefully we’ve cleared up a few of your questions and you know what you need to do to apply. So what are you waiting for?
