MARS MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME - Careers | Mars, Incorporated
MARS LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

MARS LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

The Mars Leadership Experience (MLE), previously known as the Mars Management Development Programme (MMDP), is a perfect grounding for a career in business leadership. You’ll manage projects, take on roles with local and international exposure, lead teams, make decisions with real consequences and much more. The challenges will come thick and fast and it will stretch you like never before.

What will I be doing?
The MLE comprises three 12-month placements. As a guide, you’ll typically follow a path through the three years with either a supply or demand bias. Supply includes areas like Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing and R&D. Demand covers Marketing, Sales and HR. We’ll work with you to clarify and support your career thinking and tailor your path through the programme to best fit with your ambitions and our business needs. The programme runs across a number of our UK sites, so you’ll need to be flexible on location. But every area of our business will be open to you. So you could be a Brand Manager leading a new product innovation to market, an Account Manager in Sales, driving business growth with national accounts, or a Logistics Buyer, making far-reaching changes to take cost out of our supply chain.

What support can I expect?
You’ll have ongoing support from a mentor, who’ll be a senior manager, and a buddy, a recent graduate who’s ‘been there and done that’ before. You’ll also have mid-placement and end-of-placement reviews. These give us the chance to check your progress, discuss your career direction and plan your ideal next placement based on this, our insight and the needs of the business. The key word is development and the MLE is just the beginning of your long-term career development in Mars.

Where will I be working?
You could be based at any of our UK sites near London, Nottingham or Plymouth; this will act as your home site. You will complete your first placement, final placement and sign off the programme into your home site location. Where possible we will provide you with the opportunity to complete your second placement in a different business segment other than your home site.

What is the starting salary?
The starting salary is £32,000 plus a £2,000 joining bonus.

When are pay increases and bonuses?
Individual performance-related pay increases are made at the end of each placement. A company performance bonus is received annually as a one-off payment.

What is the criteria?
A minimum of a 2:1 degree in any discipline. Please note you can only apply for one programme.
