WHAT OUR ASSOCIATES ARE SAYING

Fabio Alings
Maltesers Brand Director
“At Mars we have a responsibility to use the power of our brands to do good. Recently as a result of winning a competition we were able to produce three adverts for Maltesers representing diversity and disability."
Rose Parker
SAP Business Analyst
“I have spent the last 30 years working at Mars Drinks and Treats, but the one constant is the calibre of my colleagues. I’ve always been surrounded by intelligent, hard-working people who all have a mutual respect for each other.”
Shane Evans
P&O Manager
“Mars gives you the autonomy to make your own decisions. This is what’s really stood out to me since I joined in 2008; We have the freedom to be ourselves and make positive changes to the workplace.”

WHAT ARE ASSOCIATES ARE DOING

MARS CHOCOLATE ENGAGING WITH THE COMMUNITY

At Mars Chocolate UK, community engagement is encouraged through the Mars Volunteer Programme (MVP), where Associates are given the opportunity to support local communities in Slough. We encourage our Associates to participate in skills-based volunteering programmes as part of the MVP. The programmes help to address some of the local needs in the community, such as skills-shortages. By working with local schools through Pupil Mentoring, our Associates engage with pupils on a one-to-one basis to support them in gaining confidence around their literacy skills and also give time for discussions around educational worries and time management skills. Over 400 pupils and young people have benefitted from Mars’ skills-based volunteering scheme.

THE WRIGLEY FOUNDATION

Wrigley UK is committed to volunteering in the community, and every Associate commits to doing one activity per year as a team building activity as well as to make a difference to people and planet through our performance. Our factory team and field sales teams also participate in these projects. With the help of the Wrigley foundation we set up an Immersive Theatre Experience with the local dental school in Plymouth. They used a disused planetarium on site at Plymouth University to develop an interactive dental experience for children from the Plymouth area to educate them about the importance of a good oral health routine.

MARS FOOD WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE TRUSSEL TRUST NETWORK FOODBANKS

In 2013 Mars Food UK launched a long term partnership with The Trussell Trust Network Foodbanks, and our relationship with the charity provides wide reaching opportunities for our Associates and business. As the foodbanks are local to our UK operations, Associates can get involved with the charity during working hours through our Mars Volunteering Programme (MVP), assisting the food bank distribution network by packing or delivering donations, collecting food in supermarket drives and personal fundraising and donations.

MARS PETCARE SUPPORTING RESCUE DOGS

Mars Petcare UK has been a valued business within our communities for over 60 years and our commitment to the communities in which we operate and vision to improve the lives of pets, guides our charitable contributions. As a business we already do good work in support of our vision and in the UK every year we support: National rehoming charities by donating excess stock, we feed the dogs and cats at Battersea, and we support the successful Pedigree® Adoption Drive campaign that donates £100,000 annually and helps thousands of dogs find loving homes by raising awareness of the plight of rescue dogs.
