Mars and Roscongress Foundation join forces for SPIEF 2017

Moscow, May 22, 2017 – The Russian subsidiary of Mars, Incorporated and the Roscongress Foundation have concluded a partnership agreement as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

A key aspect of their cooperation will be support for Forum volunteers.

Mars senior leaders and representatives of Mars University will give lectures to young SPIEF 2017 participants about the development of leadership and career-building skills. Roughly 1,000 of the best students from St. Petersburg universities are planning to take part in the event. The preparatory programme starts on May 22, 2017.

“As a family-owned business, Mars is known for its special attitude towards associates development. We know how to grow true leaders and are prepared to share our experience with partners. We hope that the skills obtained by the SPIEF 2017 volunteers can be applied after the Forum as well”, noted Valery Schapov, President of Mars Russia.

“The Roscongress Foundation views its cooperation with Mars as crucial, given the resulting support provided to volunteers as part of the country’s biggest economic forum – SPIEF 2017. Moving forward, we are looking to scale up this experience to cover other events which we are also operating,” said Alexander Stuglev, Chief Executive Officer of the Roscongress Foundation.

Volunteers traditionally become the face of the Forum, supporting its delegates and guests along the entire journey: from the airport and train stations to the halls of the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre. Their support is no mere coincidence for Mars, which has its own rich traditions in this area of social activity.

“We have selected three areas for ourselves: helping local communities, creating a better world for pets, and raising awareness about dental health. Each year our associates around the world devote roughly 100,000 hours to volunteer work”, Valery Schapov said.

In addition to the volunteer programme, Mars will present its locally produced products at Forum sites. The Orbit brand will be responsible for healthy and confident smiles at the Forum and hold a contest ‘For the Forum’s most beautiful and confident smile’ jointly with three-time Olympic champion Yulia Yefimova upon conclusion of the event.

“For several years now, we have been successfully implementing investment agreements, including those signed at SPIEF. This is one of the key platforms for revealing our country’s investment potential. For this reason, we have decided to have a brand new format for interaction with the Forum organizers this year”, Valery Schapov said about the decision to form a partnership with the Roscongress Foundation.

The Roscongress Foundation is a major operator of convention and exhibition events.

The Roscongress Foundation was founded in 2007 to develop Russia’s economic potential and strengthen the country’s image by organizing congresses and exhibitions with an economic and social focus. The Foundation develops the substantive content for these events, and provides companies with advice, information, and expert guidance, as well as offering comprehensive evaluation, analysis, and coverage of the Russian and global economic agenda.

Today, its annual programme includes events held from Montevideo to Vladivostok, offering an opportunity to bring together global business leaders, experts, the media, and government officials in one place, creating favourable conditions for dialogue and the promotion of new ideas and projects, and assisting in the creation of social enterprise and charity projects.
