What's the secret to building an exceptional workplace? According to a decades long Gallup study—no matter the size, location or industry—elite organizations are devoted to one primary goal: creating a culture where their employees can perform at their best.

With that definition, the preeminent analytics and strategy company again named us to the exclusive Gallup Great Workplace Award, recognizing organizations that take employee engagement and excellence to a new level. This is the ninth time Mars has been featured on this list, and this year, we join 38 other organizations, many of them first-time award-winners.

According to Gallup, organizations on this list have more than 70 percent of their workers ready to outperform their competition. That works out to 14 engaged employees for every one actively disengaged employee—nearly seven times the U.S. rate and more than 15 times the rate for workforces globally.

The Gallup study found that organizations with high engagement have a powerful competitive advantage which impact multiple critical business outcomes including:

  • customer ratings
  • profitability
  • productivity
  • turnover
  • safety
  • shrinkage
  • absenteeism
  • sales
  • quality

According to Gallup, “Employee engagement is the emotional commitment employees have to their organization and its goals. Engaged employees further an organization’s goals because they genuinely care about their jobs and workplaces.”

Workplace awards are more than trophies — they are living proof of what we mean when we share #ProudlyMars.
