Mars Completes Majority Stake Acquisition In foodspring


McLean, Virginia / Berlin (September 3, 2019) – Mars, Incorporated today announced the successful completion of the acquisition of a significant majority stake in foodspring. 

On June 27, 2019, Mars announced that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire a significant majority stake in foodspring, the direct-to-consumer targeted nutrition company based in Berlin which offers products for consumers with needs around sports performance, healthy living and shape, as well as a leading nutrition and fitness platform.

Cage-Free Egg Commitment

  • In 2016 Mars committed to using 100% cage-free eggs for all of our human food products (eg. confectionery, rice products and sauce) by 2020 in the U.S, Canada and Australia.
  • Since 2011, Mars uses 100% cage-free eggs for human food products in Europe.
  • As of 2019, 52% of the volume covered by our commitment is cage free.

We are currently working with suppliers and the broader industry to deliver our commitment on cage-free eggs.

Mars Wrigley Names New President of Business Development

CHICAGO, IL (July 25, 2019) — Mars Wrigley announced today that Cathryn Sleight is appointed President of Business Development, effective August 5, 2019. In this role, Sleight will lead the segment’s Business Development team to pursue new global treating and snacking growth opportunities. She will report to Mars Wrigley Global President Andrew Clarke. Sleight replaces Keith Levy who departed the business in May.

Mars Edge And Foodspring Joining Forces

McLean, Virginia / Berlin, June 27 2019 – Mars, Incorporated today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a significant majority stake in foodspring, a direct-to-consumer targeted nutrition company based in Berlin and led by its founders. On completion of the transaction, foodspring will remain a standalone business led by the founders within Mars Edge, a segment of Mars, Incorporated. It will continue to operate out of its headquarters in Germany.

The Lion's Share Fund Wins Grand Prix At Cannes Festival

CANNES (June 21, 2019) – The Lion’s Share Fund, a unique initiative which asks advertisers to contribute much-needed funds to support wildlife conservation and animal welfare across the globe, has won a Grand Prix at this year’s Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.  

The Fund, first announced at last year’s Cannes Festival, was recognised in the Sustainable Development Goals category for its use of creativity to help address one of the world’s greatest environmental challenges.
