For our Summer 2011 placements we are now only recruiting engineers with degrees in Electrical, Controls or similar electronic engineering disciplines.
Our ten week summer placement is designed to give engineering students hands on experience in one of our five UK factories. We know that you will be looking for hands on experience that is why you will be working with a Mars engineering manager who will shape your ten weeks to meet your and our needs. In Mars we like mutuality, it’s one of the five principles that has driven the business for the past century.
We’re not talking about role-playing or shadowing here. You’ll be a member of the Mars team and you’ll be treated as such. You will have real in role delivery of our Engineering Project work in 2011. These projects are centred on ensuring food & human safety standards, capacity increases and product innovation. Typically, you will be involved in the, design, installation and commissioning of new equipment or modification and optimisation of existing machines. This means facing up to challenges, meeting tough deadlines, and securing collaboration from senior colleagues.
You’ll have to show us what you’re made of, but at the same time, you’ll receive really intelligent support. A manager will be appointed to lead and mentor you, and our strong team ethos means there’ll always be people around to provide support, encouragement and practical help when you need it.
Is this for you?
These placements are designed to stretch you. If you start to feel comfortable in your role we will stretch you further. At Mars people keep learning every day and are motivated by new challenges. We are looking for engineering students with outstanding academic ability, who crave responsibility and who can work with and motivate others in a team. We are now taking engineers with degrees in Electrical, Controls or similar electronic engineering disciplines.. Ultimately we are looking for the future engineering leaders of our business. We want to find people who can literally build our business of the future.
The benefits of our experience…
The pay is just the most obvious benefit. The real value for you will come from the knowledge and skills you will acquire; the insights gained into a global company at work and the relationships you will form. If you like Mars and we like you then we will be able to send you back to university with a job. No need to worry about job hunting whilst you are busy with exams and projects.
