Sustainability Reporting

At Mars, we’re committed to sustainability across our entire value chain, focusing on a future with a healthier planet, thriving people and pets and a more inclusive society. In the Mars Sustainable in a Generation Report, our corporate sustainability report, discover how we integrate sustainability into everything we do to drive critical action and address global challenges. The world we want tomorrow starts with how we do business today.

Our progress to date

We regularly assess our sustainability efforts, build lasting partnerships, and strive to not only deliver strong financial performance, but to do that while also delivering on our sustainability commitments.

Rooted in our Five Principles, that have guided our decisions for decades, our vision for sustainability encompasses investing in both people and the planet. That’s why we have planned to invest $2.7 billion over three years (2023-2025) to advance our Sustainable in a Generation Plan.

As of 2024;

  • Healthy Planet:  On the path to net zero by 2050, we have reduced absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 16.4%1 across our full value chain from a 2015 baseline, all while growing our business by 69%.
  • Thriving People: We have now reached more than 850,000 people across our value chain through our supplier and origin program since it began in 2017.
  • Nourishing Wellbeing: Our Mars Food & Nutrition business has delivered 3.5 billion healthy meals.

In 2024, Mars delivered another 1.9 percentage points of absolute GHG reductions, with an overall absolute reduction now standing at 16.4% across the full value chain and against a restated baseline in 2015. We also made significant enhancements to our climate accounting, refining our methodology to provide more accurate, transparent and inclusive emissions reporting, following our Baseline Restatement Policy.
