Mars Chocolate

Overview

We’re incredibly proud of the fact that seven of the world’s 20 best selling chocolate bars are made by us, including GALAXY, SNICKERS and of course, the classic MARS bar. However, if you think that’s all there is to Mars Chocolate, prepare to be pleasantly surprised.

We’ve a rich heritage to be proud of. After all, the very first MARS bar was produced in our Slough-based factory back in 1932. Ever since then, we’ve been committed to building on our reputation for great value brands. We’re dedicated to a lot of other things too, from ethical manufacturing processes to the way we market our products. Perhaps what we’re most passionate about though is doing right by those who come into contact with Mars Chocolate. Whether it’s the people who supply us with raw ingredients, the talented teams working in our factory, or consumers enjoying our chocolate, we make sure they’re all listened to and looked after. From looking after the big things, like our commitment to making sure our entire cocoa supply is certified as sustainably sourced by 2020, through to smaller things like listening to feedback and making improvements to our products, we’re always finding new ways to please.

Location

Slough is where you’ll find our state-of-the-art, 100,000 tonne per annum factory. In terms of location, Slough is just a stone’s throw from the bustling towns of Reading and Maidenhead, as well as the historic riverside towns of Windsor and Eton. What’s more, it’s conveniently located near the M4, and Central London and Heathrow Airport are also to be found close by.

Culture

There’s a real team spirit at Mars Chocolate, with a huge number of talented people all sharing the same goal of building on our longstanding reputation for world class products. Throughout, we make sure there’s a business strategy in place that inspires, motivates, develops and engages.

We’ve found that working in a sustainable, ethical and people-focused way generates outstanding results. It also produces high quality talent. Mars Chocolate has been a training ground for some of British industry’s most successful leaders, from Justin King (now the Chief Executive of Sainsbury’s) to Allan Leighton (former Chairman of Royal Mail).

Look beyond the work side of Mars Chocolate though, and you’ll find everything from book clubs to football matches to flexible hours – just what our associates need to find a work/life balance that suits them. Added to this, we’ve our own on-site wellness coordinator who helps Associates to enjoy chocolate as part of a healthy active lifestyle with pilates classes, circuit training and sports clubs.

Opportunities

A career at Mars Chocolate can take many, many forms. You might be passionate about working in an industry that’s one of the most pleasurable in the world, and building on some of the biggest, brightest brands around. You could be the sort of person who wants to get closer to consumers, and understand what they look for in a product. Or someone with the talent and desire to move into a pan-European role in HR, procurement, marketing or R&D.

Whatever it is you decide to do, one thing’s for certain. We can help you do it. Thanks to the fact that Slough is the European hub of Mars Chocolate, we’ve got the scope to offer broad career paths both in UK and European roles. You’ll have ownership of your career, and the responsibility to use your unique talents to impact upon our ongoing success.
