Mars Chocolate (Slough)
Slough, in the Thames Valley area of Berkshire, is the home of Mars Chocolate UK. The story of the world-famous MARS bar began in Slough in 1932 when Forrest E. Mars came to England with the recipe, already a great success in America, in his pocket. The new MARS bar, with its nougat and caramel filling, was unique and proved an instant success. By the end of the first year sales exceeded two million, worth £15,000 and Forrest E. Mars employed 100 associates. Today over 1,000 associates work for Mars in Slough, manufacturing and selling a variety of products including three million MARS bars a day. Only 30 minutes from central London, our plant incorporates one of the largest open plan offices in Europe. As the ‘Mars European Home of Chocolate’, Slough is home to our main chocolate R&D hub and manufactures over 100,000 tonnes of confectionery each year. Here associates from across the business come together to develop ideas for innovative new snacks, work out how to make them and market them to consumers.
Mars Food (King’s Lynn and Waltham-on-the-Wolds)
Our leading food brands UNCLE BEN’S and DOLMIO are manufactured by, approximately, 140 associates at our plant in King’s Lynn, Norfolk. The national food office which is home to functions such as marketing, logistics, sales and finance, supporting the food business, is located an hour up the road in Waltham-on-the-Wolds, Leicestershire, near Nottingham.

Mars Petcare (Waltham-on-the-Wolds, Melton Mowbray, Peterborough, Birstall)
Our national petcare office is located in Waltham-on-the-Wolds, near Melton Mowbray, in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside. 400 associates in Waltham steer all aspects of our UK petcare business from production and logistics to marketing and sales.
Waltham is also the home of the Waltham Centre, The World’s Leading Authority on Petcare and Nutrition, employing 130 associates. Established over 25 years ago, it’s now a world centre of excellence in pet nutrition, behaviour and care, and the results of its research are regularly published in leading scientific literature.
In the historic market town of Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, near Leicester, we have our major canning and pouch manufacturing facility producing more than 2 million packs of petcare products every month including big name brands such as PEDIGREE and WHISKAS. We employ over 280 associates in Melton.
Our dry petfood brands, PEDIGREE, WHISKAS, PAL and CHAPPIE, are manufactured at our plant in Peterborough by over 80 associates.
Our Mars Complementary Petcare factory is in Birstall, Leeds a short distance from the city of Leeds. Birstall is the innovation centre for pet snacks and treats and employs 180 associates.

Mars Drinks (Basingstoke and Maidenhead)
We have two drinks businesses. The first is called Mars Drinks, a global business-to-business unit selling vended drinks machines to places like offices and hospitals. FLAVIA and KLIX are our two drinks brands. Mars Drinks has two sites in Basingstoke, Hampshire, manufacturing drinks and machines, employing over 400 associates.
Secondly we have a new business start up called "Mars Consumer Drinks" which sells premium milk shakes and hot chocolates under our chocolate brands like MARS and GALAXY. Our UK office is based in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
