Claus Aagaard is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Mars, Incorporated; a role he was. appointed to in 2016. Claus is responsible for global Finance, Strategy, Corporate Development, Digital, and Shared Services for Mars.
Claus has been with Mars for more than 20 years, spanning multiple business segments and geographies. Claus has an extensive background in finance, strategic planning, and mergers and acquisitions, and he has been instrumental in the significant business and portfolio transformation Mars has undergone in recent years, including rapid expansion into the veterinary and diagnostics space as well as acquisitions like KIND Snacks and the proposed Kellanova transaction.
Claus champions long-term value-creation where profit and purpose go hand-in-hand, and he has been a driving force in integrating financial and non-financial metrics into the Mars enterprise strategy and remuneration principles as well as its Sustainable in a Generation Plan.
Prior to joining Mars, Claus spent 11 years with the international diary cooperative, Arla Foods, where he ultimately served as Finance Director for the U.K.
Claus is a member of the board of Grundfos, a global leader in energy-efficient water solutions for homes, buildings, industries, utilities and agriculture. Claus also serves on the board of Bread for the City, a Washington D.C. non-profit organization.
Claus holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration and a Graduate Diploma in Finance and Accounting from Herning Business School. He lives in the Washington, D.C. area with his wife and four children and enjoys living an active lifestyle.
