Studies demonstrate that enabling greater participation of women in businesses and communities delivers measurable benefits(Opens a new window) for business, the economy and society.
This is something that I’m personally very passionate about and I’ve experienced the vast benefits of having a diverse, gender balanced leadership team firsthand. As an organization we are committed to driving this agenda and taking the actions needed. This commitment goes well beyond just one day a year, however on International Women’s Day I want to underscore the importance of gender equity to our future success.
Ensuring female voices are heard, sponsored and amplified is everyone’s responsibility. This is a commitment I take seriously, that’s why I’m both proud and a little daunted to be stepping up to co-sponsor Mars ‘Full Potential’, our platform on gender equity with my brilliant colleague Stefanie Straub. In 2023, we will be focused on driving forward progress to address the barriers women face — through active allyship, leadership and advancement programs as well as policies and support.
Our focus on equity extends beyond advocacy and into driving the big – and small – actions that will help us tip the scales. Helping to remove barriers at the structural but also – importantly – at the individual level. It is about listening, learning and creating the space for all voices to be heard. I believe it’s down to each of us to ensure we take action and have a positive impact: one situation, one individual at a time.
If we can do that, I’m confident we can build the more equitable and inclusive business and society that we all want.
