Driving progress on our Health & Wellbeing strategy to make tasty, healthy food accessible to consumers
At Mars Food & Nutrition, we believe food is the fabric of humanity. We want to help people enjoy the benefits of delicious, healthy food by making our products tasty, accessible and healthy. Our Purpose is clear: Better food today, for a better world tomorrow.
Health & Wellbeing has been central to our strategy for over a decade. Our current commitments aim to deliver 5.5 billion healthy meals annually by 2025, including 4 billion servings of vegetables, a 30% increase in fiber servings and a 5% reduction in sodium globally.
Our progress
2024 was a year of great progress, driven by new products, innovations and enhancements to our existing portfolio. Our efforts were guided by the Mars Food Nutrition Criteria, which adheres widely agreed-upon nutrition recommendations from the World Health Organization and other leading health authorities.
We’re pleased to share that we delivered 3.5 billion healthy meals, added 372 million servings of vegetables and increased fiber servings by 309 million last year. We’ve also achieved a 5% reduction in sodium (from our 2019 baseline) across our product range.
We achieved this through innovations such as Ben’s Original™ Street Food in the U.S. and Canada. These convenient and delicious options are packed with fiber and protein, making them the perfect satisfying dish for busy schedules. And, our new Ben’s Original™ Lunch Bowls in the U.K. contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, and include a range of tasty grain and vegetable bowls that are a source of fiber and high in protein. Additionally, our Dolmio® Intensify pasta sauces contribute to daily vegetable intake and, as with all the Dolmio® sauces we know and love, the Intensify ranges have no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.
Why it matters
Our commitment to high nutrition standards ensures that our products not only taste great but also support a healthy lifestyle. By addressing dietary issues such as fiber and micronutrient deficiencies, and emphasizing the importance of vegetables, whole grains and protein, we are making healthy eating more convenient.
