Behind every treat, snack, food and pet product, we have countless Associates creating innovative campaigns that enable us to share those products with the world. It’s why we’re excited to share that eight of our brands recently took home wins at the 2023 US Effie Awards. We were also honored to be recognized as one of the Top 3 Marketers of the Year. Highlights include BEN’S ORIGINAL™ for We’re All Original Recipes(Opens a new window), a campaign that showcases the “ingredients” that make us who we truly are; M&M’S® for its New Day for the M&M’s Characters(Opens a new window) campaign welcoming Purple, the first new character in over a decade; and five of our Petcare brands for their Extend A Paw campaign at Walmart(Opens a new window), which donates meals to hungry pets in need.
We believe that the world we want tomorrow starts with how we do business today. We see these awards as a validation — our intention to create a better world extends to the important work done by our marketing and communications Associates worldwide.
The Effie Awards(Opens a new window) were launched in 1968 by the New York American Marketing Association as an awards program to honor the most effective advertising efforts. The award now honors all forms of effective marketing and the companies and individuals creating effective work across the globe.
The Effie Awards gala was held on June 1 in New York City, where our brand teams were presented with gold, silver and bronze trophies for their work. Our complete list of 2023 Effie winning brands and campaigns include:
- BEN’S ORIGINAL™: Won gold for their We’re All Original Recipes (Opens a new window)campaign, which showcases the “ingredients” that make us who we truly are. The commercials are based on a simple question—what if we gave different families the same ingredient—a pouch of Ben’s Original™ rice?
- M&M’S®: Won bronze trophies in two categories for their New Day for the M&M’s Characters(Opens a new window) campaign welcoming Purple, the first new character in over a decade.
- SKITTLES®: Took home three trophies, a bronze, silver and gold, for their Apologize the Rainbow(Opens a new window) campaign celebrating the return of the lime SKITTLE after eight years.
- GREENIES®, IAMS®, NUTRO®, PEDIGREE® and TEMPTATIONS®: Became bronze trophy winners for their Extend A Paw campaign at Walmart(Opens a new window). For each participating product purchased at Walmart during the campaign, Mars donated one meal to Greater Good Charities to be distributed to their network of animal welfare organizations. Mars donated more than a million meals to pets in need as part of the program.
