Halloween Means Giving Back at Mars
Halloween season is one of the busiest times of year at Mars – from our workplace Boo Bashes around the world, to costume giveaways – and even being a part of popular culture debates on the most in-demand treats (Mars Wrigley makes 5 of the top 10 items sold at Halloween). But most importantly, this season gives us an opportunity to bring better moments to people around the world and give back to local communities where we live and work. For example, in the coming weeks we’ll give more than 6,000 costumes to kids who need them most around the U.S. and celebrate Halloween with Associates’ families and pets in our workplaces around the world.
Halloween season is growing around the world, and this year, Mars Wrigley intends to celebrate its biggest Halloween yet. We gave Tim Lebel, president of U.S. sales, the fab-BOO-lous title of Chief Halloween Officer— 35 days before Halloween. Tim will lead Halloween celebrations for the entire business.
“Mars Wrigley is THE authority on Halloween. With our iconic brands and amazing Associates – we bring consumers the biggest and best Halloween every year. I’ve always said I have the best job in the world, but it gets even better around Halloween,” said Tim.
Through the Mars Volunteer Program, our Associates will participate in charitable events this year, including the Chicago Park District’s Halloween in the Parks programming. We’re proud to sponsor a number of events across the city, including pumpkin patches, jack-o’-lanterns and the Park 5K Run & Kids Spooky Sprint.
“We have passion for making sure kids around Chicago could experience the magic of Halloween,” said Global Corporate Affairs Manager for Mars Wrigley Anand McClurg. “The Chicago Park District has been an incredible partner to help us make this better moment happen for more than 600 in the city.”
M&M’S sponsors an annual costume drive in Newark, New Jersey, where 5,000+ kids can choose their trick-or-treating outfit and start their Halloween haul with a selection of their favorite treats. In Canada, Mars Wrigley Associates team up with Ronald McDonald House, to carve pumpkins, play games and create crafts with families, to wish them a happy Halloween.
All Mars Wrigley locations serve as Halloween HQ. From our corporate offices in Washington, D.C. to our factory floors around the world, our Associates and their families are invited to attend local Boo Bash celebrations.
It’s also important not to forget our animal friends at Halloween. Associates’ dogs and cats are also welcome to come to the office in their custom animal Halloween costumes, and Banfield will share Halloween-specific pet safety tips in their client newsletter and across social media channels.
When you make brands that put smiles on people’s faces and create better moments for millions, you feel a sense of pride in your work. This is one of the many better moments Mars Wrigley celebrates around the world.
