Mars cocoa climate leadership has been recognized in a new case study published by the London School of Economics (LSE) Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment(Opens a new window), a leading institute on climate economics and policy. The publication showcases how strategic, nature-based investments help drive core business resilience and can protect the global cocoa supply.
The institute selected Mars alongside a small group of global companies to demonstrate how investing in nature and the environment helps secure long-term supply chain viability.
This independent analysis highlights Mars for maintaining momentum on its science-based global climate targets. Through our Cocoa for Generations strategy, Mars’ nature-based investments in cocoa—including climate-smart agriculture, agroforestry, and soil health—are recognized by LSE as essential economic assets. Rather than being treated as baseline compliance costs, these practices can help to buffer cocoa farming against extreme weather shocks, stabilize crop yields, and build a more resilient value chain.
