Lindau 2024: Climate, Corals and Physics

We believe that scientific research, collaboration and partnerships are essential for tackling the world's most significant challenges – from sustainable agriculture to climate change. Our long-standing partnership with the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings exemplifies our commitment to fostering meaningful scientific dialogue and shaping a better world for tomorrow.

Our Unique Partnership with the Lindau Meeting

For over a decade, we've partnered with the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, an extraordinary scientific forum that brings together Nobel Laureates and hundreds of top young researchers worldwide each year in Germany. This week-long event promotes scientific exchange across generations, cultures and disciplines, serving as a catalyst for knowledge sharing and innovation. As part of our collaboration, we’ve supported hundreds of young researchers to attend the Meetings as “Mars Fellows”.

Complex Challenges, Interdisciplinary Solutions

This year we hosted sessions exploring how physics and interdisciplinary partnerships can help address some of the complex challenges we face. This included an interactive panel discussion with Dr. Abigail Stevenson, Mars Chief Science Officer, Nobel Laureate Professor George Smoot, and Ona Ambrozaite, a researcher from Johns Hopkins University. Our Chief Marine Scientist, Professor David Smith, also provided a deep dive into our coral reef restoration program in some of the areas most impacted by climate change.
