The communities devastated by the recent wildfires in southern California are home to millions of people and pets, and our thoughts are with everyone impacted. We are grateful for the firefighters putting their lives on the line to help contain the blaze alongside all the first responders serving those who are affected.
As a family-owned business, our Associates and their families are our top priority. We are staying close to Associates who have been impacted to ensure they are supported and have access to essential resources.
While we always strive to make a positive and purposeful impact on people and pets, during times of disaster, there is a greater urgency. Mars took immediate action to support people and pets in communities impacted by the wildfires by:
- Contributing monetary donations to non-profit organizations, including The American Red Cross, World Central Kitchen, Feeding America, and Greater Good Charities.
- Distributing in-kind human and pet food product donations from our Ben’s OriginalTM, KIND Snacks, Nature’s Bakery, M&M’S®, SNICKERS®, PEDIGREE®, Royal Canin, and BUCKEYETMNutrition brands, among others, via partnerships with non-profit organizations.
- Providing veterinary care and pet boarding, with Associates from Banfield, VCA and BluePearl – including veterinary technicians and veterinarians – answering the call to help volunteer alongside shelter veterinary teams to provide animal handling and caretaking.
To further support wildfire relief efforts, PEDIGREE Foundation(Opens a new window) has provided grants to non-profit partners, shelters, and rescues to help with transport needs and foster support. Banfield Foundation(Opens a new window), VCA Charities(Opens a new window) and BluePearl Cares(Opens a new window)—all 501(c)(3) public charities—have also provided grants to help with displaced pets and shelter animals, and shelter support.
